About Jackie Woolley

Jackie Woolley, Ph.D. started her career as a clinical psychologist in private practice specializing in cognitive therapy with adults, children, and adolescents with depression, anxiety, and stress related disorders. When her 3 children applied to college, she helped them with their applications and found she really enjoyed the process. In the spring of 2013, she completed the Specialized Certificate in College Counseling through UCSD and subsequently founded Summit College Counseling. In 2014, she attended the Independent Educational Consultants Association’s Summer Training Institute at Claremont McKenna College.

As an independent educational consultant, Jackie works with students and their families on course and activity planning, college search, testing advice, application completion, resumes, personal statements and essays, applying to selective colleges, early action/early decision, and transfer options. Her goal is to make the process less stressful and more fun so students can focus on self-reflection, exploration, and discovery to find the colleges that fit them best.

Jackie's college counseling practice is diverse academically, socioeconomically, and geographically. She is comfortable working with a wide range of students including those who have learning differences and mental health issues as well as athletes, international students, and high performing students. Jackie works in-person and remotely from her offices in Southern California and Jackson Hole, WY.

Jackie is a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and a member of the Western Association For College Admission Counseling (WACAC). She co-led the IECA San Diego Regional Group for many years and is currently the chair of the IECA Mountain West Regional Group. She served on the IECA Regional Group Task Force in 2023 and the Regional Group Ad Hoc Committee in 2024. She was honored to receive the 2024 IECA Making a Difference award. She also volunteers with and mentors low-income first-generation students throughout the college application process and during their college years.
